Party Music for the Home

The last couple years fashionable home furnishing retail stores and coffee shops have set their visual merchandising ambiance with accent lighting, graphical art and all types of music from pop to indie artists to inspire shoppers to linger. It wasn’t until last week while doing some back-to-school shopping I made a quick detour to Pottery Barn and found a variety of their summer music CD’s on sale and bought them for $2.97 each—what a steal! Somehow, bringing home some of that upbeat music psyched me into more entertaining, cooking and dancing.

Recently, I returned to Pottery Barn to buy more of their party CD’s, but was told by staff that the store is converting to satellite radio. I was hooked and enjoyed being introduced to new cultural rhythms and indie bands and musicians. Since then, I joined Blip.fm and Pandora online and have found DJs who share my music tastes and introduce me to new tunes and all I have to do is download my music playlist which is very affordable and easy.

Olive Branches and Wreaths | Symbolize Peace

Olive Wreaths and Branches | Home FashionAs this week’s 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, come to a close I always enjoy seeing the universal symbol of peace the Olive Branch and athletes crowned with Olive Wreaths (Athens). The Olive Branch rooted in ancient history, literature, and pictured in Presidential Seals continues to be admired. While the launch of this blog didn’t coincide with all the Olympic party planning or Olympic Barbeque Picnics–there is still the holiday season to display this inspirational symbol of peace.

Using beautiful, artificial olive branches you can make an arrangement in a vase or center an olive wreath above the fireplace mantel for year round decoration.
